The Red Lion, situated beside St. Mary’s Parish Church in Ellesmere, has a long history as a coaching inn, being built on the Turnpike road between Market Drayton and Oswestry. Originally built in the 16th Century as a coaching stop evidence of which can be seen in its construction. Entering the Red Lion via the bar area, residential door way or through the courtyard by the route of olde tyme coaches, you will find a warm welcome and comfortable facilities at hand.
